Vanessa L. HillFounder & Executive Director | vhill@projectnana.org
I have been fortunate to develop and manage health interventions, equity and advocacy programs within large healthcare systems and community organizations. My direct patient care, clinical and management experiences have provided me with a comprehensive understanding of healthcare delivery systems, patient engagement, and advocacy to support quality, innovative, value-based platforms. My creative skills and process have served me well in developing, planning and implementing impactful programs and projects. Project Nana was birthed from experiencing my grandmother succumb two weeks after diagnosis of cancer of the uterus. Its mission is to educate, engage and positively affect health behaviors, health outcomes and the quality of life of post-menopausal women. As a seasoned women’s health equity advocate, I conduct research, make presentations, and consult on the intersection of aging, gender, health and culture and program development. As a filmmaker and creative, I developed The Nanalogues and Conversations from the Porch to amplify the voices of seasoned women. As a more immediate form of catharsis in response to my grief, I published my first children’s book, Nadia’s Wish (Shades of Brown Creatives, Balboa Press, an imprint of Hay House) which helps children process loss from pain to empowerment. I am a native conch from Key West and a healer. |

The year 2020 has been memorable for many reasons, but a particularly notable time for me was coming aboard Project Nana as the Program Fellow. Throughout this experience, I have been able to grow skills in coordinating health promotion events, which now are mainly virtual events, public health entrepreneurship, and women's health advocacy as a whole. I have realized that women's health is much more than the brief reproductive window. I am excited to continue to evolve as a public health professional, student, and woman in 2021. |
Mallory FriesSocial Media Fellow | malloryfries@gwmail.gwu.edu
My name is Mallory and I am a sophomore studying Public Health at George Washington University. I run the social media accounts for Project Nana by creating images, posting about our goals and interacting with followers. Looking back on 2020 the best part of Project Nana was learning about seasoned women’s gynecologic health. There are so many components that Project Nana deals with from sexual health to educating on preventative measures that I had never considered before. Not only do I share this information online, but as one of the younger people in my family I can directly inform them of everything I’ve learned. I'm most excited to bring an intergenerational lens to Project Nana and show that it's not just for post-menopausal women but that young girls can have important takeaways as well! |
Bolutife Omoloju Recruitment Fellow | boluloju9@gwmail.gwu.edu
My name is Bolutife Omoloju, I am currently an MPH candidate at the GWU Milken School of Public Health concentrating on Global health program design monitoring and evaluation. I joined Project Nana in July 2020 as an outreach and recruitment fellow and it has been an enlightening experience so far. My primary responsibilities include recruiting presenters and participants for Project Nana programs as well as participants for the research study. Prior to joining Project Nana, I worked with a gynecologic oncologist and was learning about the different gynecologic cancers and their treatments. I am grateful that in 2020, Project Nana has awarded me the ability to learn more about gynecologic cancers through the lens of public health. In 2021, I look forward to learning more about global health at GWU as I continue in my education as well as the different programs that we have planned for Project Nana. |
