Menopause & Aging

Menopause occurs when a woman ceases to menstruate, which typically begins in a woman’s 40s and 50s and announces the end of a woman’s reproductive season. Many changes occur to a woman’s body once she reaches menopause: there is a decrease in estrogen and testosterone levels, she may experience vaginal dryness, hot flashes, night sweats, and mood swings. There are measures a woman can take to make the transition through menopause more comfortable, including the use of hormone therapy, moisturizers and lubricants, and healthy lifestyle choices.
